History
In Memory of the Sacrifice
Уредник: Г. Гајић
A memorial volume dedicated to the Memorial Chapel in Mauthausen — a place of suffering and resurrection, raised in memory of the sacrifice of those who were destroyed. More a tribute and a trace in memory than an ordinary book.
From the preface
Mauthausen, the place where this Memorial Chapel, this memory of the sacrifice, was raised, was a place of crucifixion and burial, of the destruction of a people, but also of the conscious sacrifice of those who, we may say, raised this church for themselves while still alive. In a sense, we are only restoring it. This Golgotha place is therefore also a place of Resurrection, theirs and ours. This church is special in this respect, for it represents the Resurrection of a living temple, of that church made from a prisoners' barrack… This is one of those holy and pilgrimage places to which only prayer and silence are fitting, like the Blue Grave… like Zeitinlik… And just as we sing on the eve of the Resurrection „let all creation be silent“, before the approach of the King of Glory, so we might say the same here before the cruelty of the man-shaped beast and the sacrifice of those who were destroyed. Therefore you too, if you pause and pray, will hear the same words as those spoken to the Old Testament prophet: „Moses, Moses! Put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground“ (Exodus 3, 1-5). This memorial volume is therefore more a tribute than a book, only an image and a trace in indelible memory, on the way to eternity, a candle before the altar of the resurrected church and of the imperishable Memory of the righteous and eternal Sacrifice.Из Предговора издавача — Г.
